La Calisto Opera

Identity, PosterPacked full of mischief, irreverence and outrageous flirtation, La Calisto is a seventeenth-century retelling of an ancient Greek myth. A whimsical, comedic opera by Francesco Cavalli.

For this project we worked with RIAM and IADT’s Stage and Screen students who gave us an insight to the creative direction they took on the opera. 

Their production was to be eccentric and colourful, and this prompted me to draw from the same character traits that inspired the set team. The characters personality traits would come front and centre, clashing with one another in garish fluorescent tones, juxtaposing with more classic typography used to introduce their characters.
