Diarmuid SlatteryDrawing from records held in the National Archives, the 2021 Commemoration Programme explores the early ambitions of the new Irish state as it asserted its independence within an international frame. 

The exhibition was accompanied by a public engagement programme designed to encourage historical enquiry and promote the widest possible interest in exploring and understanding the impact and legacy of the events that occurred during the revolutionary period, including global reactions and the experience of women.
